A friend of mine passed away on 02/02/2012. This is the actual personal eulogy I presented at the funeral 02/06/2012:
Personal Eulogy Rough Draft:
Speech:
I only knew Lulu for a year; however, the amount of impact and influence she had on me, it seems like it was a lifetime. Therefore, I have written a poem in her memory.
Quote:
What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and are immortal.
Albert Pike
Poem:
Imagine a beautiful picture painted in Lulu, elegant and frail. The art of the painting was meticulous as if it was mechanically designed to intake deep emotions and pumped passion through her character. Detailed-oriented with affection, covered in existence, representing a language that spoke with a Spanish tone….
Her time was a cassette tape and life was her stereo and her memories were just music that her heart danced to the beat. Depending on her mood, her song collection ranged from love, distress and even cheerfulness. A collection of her heart that we have memorized in the depth of our recollection…
So when the need for her presence arise, we will play the music of her heart with the volume up loud, up loud knowing that she’s in tuned with the clouds that were personally painted white by an artist who took her life, from earth, because like us, he knew her worth, and for what it is worth, as many…
I’m only a witness to this amazing birth of a person that grew within every individual that ever looked her in the eyes’ and said, hi… because from the moment I said, hi.
I was taken to a place only a selected few have visited and felt honored to be part of her alliance knowing that her pervious life experiences were a walking testimony that my ears were attentive and anxious to hear….
Like the advice she gave me on my boys that I could not ignore, obviously she has 3 boys that I truly adore; that I noticed from the first meeting at the door.
At this moment, I refuse to mourn her death knowing that she is at rest and her accomplishments stretch from the day she was born till day she finally was giving a pat on her back, with a job well done and a flew of memories that are readily available if we want to have conversation with her, all we have to do is close our eyes and reminisce. And when our conversation is done, we will tell her goodbye for now, and will talk to you later.
R.I.P Lulu

nice scribe!
Thank you.
It’s not many that have the gift to condence the truths into such a tight area, and with so fine a description. Lulu must have had a great “classroom” for her friend to learn so well.
